"A tale of love and luck, and life's adventures in a foreign land. A story that brings characters we all may have encountered in our own travels. A great escape for those of us stuck in the frozen tundra of ice, snow, and winter's worst cold. Kindopp tells quite a story that weaves several streams of consciousness throughout the book. Fun and thoughtful."

"Viva Mexico! Viva Manana !

What a great fun read and a deliciously vicarious real Mexican experience! This is the real life thing, only without all the personal scariness of personally just "going for it" oneself. No dull moments, just real life on hyper-drive. Nothing left out. Great characters, dialogue and narration. Road trips, passion, music, dark alleys, love in the afternoon, love found, love lost, ocean voyages, beautiful sunsets, warm nights, food! I found "MUCHO" of it all exquisitely portrayed.!"

"Great read!

I really enjoyed reading this book -- started it last night and finished this afternoon. I simply didn't want to put it down. The characters are interesting, funny and, for the most part, likable. The descriptions of Mazatlán are so vivid that I can easily picture the places in the book. If you want a fun, interesting read about trying to make a life in Mexico, start here. I am anxiously awaiting and hoping there will be a sequel!"

"Really a great read!

David,
Enjoyed "Mañana Doesn't Mean Tomorrow" so much I've given four of them to my yachting clients heading to Mexico. It's a must read for anyone heading there; especially Mazatlan. You really hit the nail on the head on what it's like there, and the wonderful experiences one can expect. Good job, David!"

"They say that the truth is often stranger than fiction. This book proves that with interest. Every middle-aged person wants to do something awesome that they can tell their friends about over a few cervezas or that their grandkids will ask them to tell about over the holidays. People just want to live a bigger than life adventure at some point in their life. David Kindopp does just that in "Mañana Doesn't Mean Tomorrow" Filled with an array of interesting characters, that only a beach town in the tropics could produce, this book will make you want to hop on a sailboat and head for Mazatlán."

"I loved the book.

David Kindopp had me from the opening pages and I felt his love and hope for Mexico and also his pain and disappointment. He says he has much more to tell and he plans on going back, so look for a sequel."

We've all had lovers who just didn't love us back as we wanted. David Kindopp describes his love affair with Mazatlán, Mexico in "Mañana Doesn't Mean Tomorrow, An unbelievably, ridiculously, painfully, delightfully true adventure in Mexico." David gave up his real estate career in San Diego, settled up with his two ex-wives and sailed to Mexico on a 50-foot ketch. All he wanted to do was start a charter business, taking tourists for sunset sails at $35 apiece. He would provide the cervezas and food in a first-class manner and tourists would fall in love with the city as he had.

David is 40 and loves sailing and is good at his job. He isn't afraid of hard work and his mind overflows with the music of Jimmy Buffet. Working with tourists can pay well, but the ups and downs of the economy and the seasons can savage your endurance. I've seen "David’s" in Mexico and Hawaii. Sharing living quarters with other "David’s" enjoying the life in paradise. David is good with people and the lady tourists,
looking for adventure, find it on the sea and in David's bed, all in vivid detail.

Mexico is another story. He loves the culture. He feels alive. Here he is not an American sheep with a predictable future, always paying for the new house, new car, education, healthcare. However, the Mexican corruption and inefficiency just beats him down. He needs to get a permit to take tourists sailing but is told by his business partners that the permit will be here Mañana! Those expats who live in Mexico know the most maddening part of living there is the lack of concern about time. If it doesn't get done today at 11:00am, there will be another 11:00am tomorrow or next week. He doesn't understand why officials make it so hard to be an entrepreneur promoting tourism."

"I rarely experience pleasure as great as reading a book like this while planning & executing a trip to the setting of the book. It was an AWESOME EXPERIENCE and I visited many of the places in the book while in Mazatlán this past weekend & finished the book on the flight home today..."

"David has written a very good, " don't want to put it down" book! Living in Mazatlán 6 months each year, I can definitely relate to the trials & tribulations of everyday life here! Now, when I say mañana to a local, I think of your book and wonder to myself if I really mean tomorrow! You were brave, gutsy and was able to endure the wrath of the " games" that are played here! I would have been leaving town MUCH sooner, feeling beaten down. Hope you will do a sequel or write another book on a different adventure!"

"Very entertaining. Extremely well written.

Sometimes there are a few too many details but those are easy enough to skip over. If you've ever thought you might want to chuck it all and go chase a dream, it's a good primer for you. Some of the commentary is extremely personal and not always flattering, you've got to admire someone who will really lay it all out there for anyone to read. I enjoyed this book tremendously."

"I would highly recommend this book for anyone planning to move to Mexico. Having visited Mexico for years, I know that Manana doesn't mean tomorrow. To make your self clear you name the day as in "Will it be ready Tuesday?" not "Will it be ready tomorrow?" even at that there is a "maybe" factor. David Kindopp wrote this book about his adventure taking a sailboat to Mazatlán to run a business. The ups and downs are funny and sometimes frustrating as you feel his pains in dealing with a very different culture. I have to say I am still planning to retire to Mexico. But I will be a little more informed. Oh yes, the value of the peso has changed a lot since this book was written. It would not be fair to leave without saying that some of the scenes in the book may make you laugh or groan out loud. Enjoy!"

"This was a fun and interesting book, maybe more-so because I lived in Mexico for six years. Even though I never lived on the beach, it brought back many good and funny memories. I thought the characters were well developed and the descriptions of Mexico were accurate. I would like to know if the author ever went back and what he is doing now. All in all, it was a good read."

"Having traveled Mexico for 30 years and Mazatlán is one of two stomping grounds for me I could really relate. I loved David’s up and down moments and knew exactly what his emotions were that he was describing, especially the frustrations of Mexican bureaucracy."

"An engaging true-life adventure story.

An excellent book about taking chances in life, and taking chances in Mexico. The story really keeps you engaged and eager to read the next chapter to see what happens next. The descriptive writing style is such that you can fully envision the settings and the events as they unfold, and you really get a feel for the true essence of the author. And, true to life, it's all in there: surprises, serious, fun and funny, romance and friendship, uncertainty, risks, rewards and disappointments, and a definite learning experience. A great book, and if you know Mexico, all the better!"

"Readable and True.

A readable, true tale of a man who walks away from a humdrum California realty job to follow his dream--starting a charter sailboat business in Mexico. Through all his ensuing elations, machinations, and frustrations in love, in friendship, and in business, David's voice rings true as he shows us a Mexico most tourists never see, a Mexico in which he discovers why mañana doesn't mean tomorrow."

"Great Read.

Read this delightful story and it took me back to my travels in Mexico. I could actually hear the sounds, see the sites, and smell the aromas of Mazatlán. The book reveals the adventurous spirit and courage of David Kindopp to share such personal experiences with all. It is a fun and easy read and leaves you with a happy tone."

"Dave's account of his adventure in Mexico was an entertaining and fun read. I attended high school with Dave and his sister Barbara. That may have influenced me a bit, but strictly from an objective view, I think most people would enjoy his book. There was no pretense in his writing. He is the person you read about."
